1Peter 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:”
I want to notice we have a high and holy calling, a calling from God himself.
Israel was called out of Egypt to go into the promise land. Though the plagues, though the wilderness, their experience at Horeb was to cause them to trust in God’s ability to care for them and bring them to a place of blessing. Though out the process they misunderstood God, He was not trying to make things hard for them. Rather, he was attempting to bring them into blessing.
As Christians we understand there is a curse on this present world. When I speak of this curse I mean the natural present world we live in and the imperfection we find in it. It’s imperfect, and tainted by sin! We’ve been called out of darkness. We don’t have to be limited to what this world has to offer us. But if you will not turn away from this present world to go into God’s light Christian or not you will be tainted by the darkness of the world.
To walk in the light is to walk in the New Testament “Promise Land”. We pray and ask for God’s blessing but can we live in the darkness and expect to reap from the light? How do I walk in the light? There are many things said about walking in the light. Let me leave two thoughts with you.
First, to walk in the light is to walk in “LOVE“. Love is not a feeling. Emotions are too changeable to base you life on. No, love is based on obeying 1 Corinthians 13.
1Corintians 13:4-8.
4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. AMP
Remember this all anger, resentment, jealousy, and unforgivness puts you in darkness. And folks, you will find no blessing there!
Second, walking in the light is walking and putting God’s word first place in their life. Psalms says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
Let God’s word settles everything for you, not your circumstances, and not your understanding. There is a secret place where the blessing of God abides, it is in a heart established with God’s word, and a heart that loves and forgives.
Dear Christian that is the light God has called you to go into. Some folks think they are waiting on God for his blessing but the reality is God is waiting on us! So what are you waiting for! Come on into the grace of the Lord and walk in his abundant life.
